Literature Text

Deep and dark I go

My narrowed path, twisting, turning through dae* elm.

Withered, broken branches; dark, black, deadened leaves

Whispering blackened speech to me.

Light, to bright! Bright, to light!

Hisses and mutters of my kinsmen pass through the dae elms.

To light, to bright Elves of old,

To move through the shadowed Mirk,

Oh so bold.

Red, gold and dazzling emerald leaves,

Whispering honeycomb words of grace and glee to me.

Run, climb, play and scamper,

The wood sounds with Elfling laughter.

Greenwood the great of ages past,

Fair and noble children of Valinor set with caring for this cast.

Keeping eryn* ever growing, and duin* ever flowing.

Clean and light forever more,

Though dae always dwells, even in the brightest of belles.
